Being a Fellow of the PWI is a recognition of your expertise, acknowledgement of your professional standing and your support of the PWI.

What is expected of a PWI Member

The PWI is open to everyone with a professional or personal interest in the Rail industry.

All members should read and adhere to the PWI NSW Constitution and  Code of Conduct. These can be viewed on the ABOUT US page.

Being part of the PWI community you would be expected to help the PWI fulfil its mission in terms of its strategic pillars as shown below:

Benefits of being part of the prestigious PWI

  • Sharing of knowledge of the Railway Industry with over 500 individual members, life members, more than 80+ active corporate members, including our special Enhanced Membership Levels of Platinum, Gold and Silver Membership.
  • Enhanced permanent way & electrical learning, including six Technical meetings annually.
  • Participate in our Annual Convention, which is held in October each year in Sydney.

You can use the post nominal MPWI(Aus) if you are a financial member of the PWI and are a member at one of the below levels.

PWI Member

This is the standard PWI membership that can be joined by using the “Join Now” button at the top of any of the website pages.

Retired Member

If you are retired you can join as a retired member and receive a discount on your membership. To join at this level you will need to contact Membership@pwinsw.org.au

As a retired member you play a vital role in the PWI to help pass on your skills and knowledge to our PWI community

Life Member

This membership is awarded to people, and It acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to the PWI community or Institution over a long period of time. It shows appreciation for their dedication, effort, and impact


You can use the post nominal FPWI(Aus) if you are a financial member of the PWI and have been approved by the PWI National Fellowship Council (Australia) and endorsed by the PWI National Steering Committee.

PWI Fellowship FPWI (Aus)

The membership grade of Fellow is the highest and prestigious level of membership that the PWI can confer upon a member and is awarded in recognition of an individuals expertise and Professional standing and their contribution to the Rail industry and the PWI.

 

A Fellowship applicant must:

  • Currently hold or have held a senior or influential position in the railway industry
  • Made a significant contribution to the Rail industry or PWI.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • Significant (greater than 10 years) experience in senior level positions in the rail industry (including minimum 3 years Australian Experience)
  • personal and professional commitment to the PWI Code of Professional Conduct (relevant to your state of membership) and future commitment to the PWI.

Application Fee

An initial application fee of $75 will be payable. Fellow membership fees for the next financial year will be $150/yr.

 

Complete your online application and submit supporting documentation

You will need to supply:

  • Two industry leaders to support your application, One must be a PWI Fellow, and the other can be a Chartered or Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Up to date CV
  • CPD record or governing body where you have a current CPD record.

 

Your application will be subject to an initial review and if successful your application will then be presented to the PWI Fellowship Council (Australia) for final decision. The PWI Fellowship Council (Australia) must endorse transfers to Fellowship for ratification by the PWI National Executive Steering Committee (NESC).
