Introduction to the Project plus the need to improve Collaboration and Early Engagement
James who is a Project Director (CPB) has over 30 years experience in the Construction industry across Australia, the UK, New Zealand and the Solomon Islands including the last 17 years working in Brownfield Rail Projects. James moved with his family to Australia in 2017 and has subsequently worked for RCR Infrastructure, John Holland and CPB Contractors on a number of well known projects including Hornsby Junction Remodelling, Redfern Station Upgrade, Botany Rail Duplication and, most recently, the new Regional Rail Maintenance Facility in Dubbo. Despite an accent to the contrary he is a rabid supporter of Aussie cricket and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Tom Mitchell is a Principal Permanent Way Engineer at WSP with over 10 years of experience in the rail industry. Originally from the UK, Tom moved to Australia 6 years ago and has since worked on multiple train stabling and maintenance facility projects across Australia and New Zealand. With a broad experience in rail systems design and the complexities of multidisciplinary rail projects, Tom will share his experience of delivering the track design for the new Regional Rail Maintenance Facility in Dubbo, focusing on the key design interface challenges.

Signalling Design & Interface Issues
Jason is a Technical Executive with over 27 years’ experience in delivering large scale rail projects across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
The last 18 years Jason has been based in NSW where he has developed and applied his vast signalling knowledge across all aspects of signalling design, from feasibility studies, concept development, all phases of detail design through to construction support and commissioning testing
Jason leads the current NSW WSP signalling team and is the WSP national signalling technical delivery lead across NSW and WA, providing day to day technical direction to the design teams while managing project expectations with clients and other stakeholders.

Leveraging Operational Technology to Enhance Safety, Efficiency, and Security in Maintenance
Samiha Najem an Associate Director, Operational Technology, Sydney Trains is a dynamic leader in the transport industry, with hands-on experience across rail, bus, and ferry systems. Starting as an intern at RailCorp in 2009, she has moved around various areas and roles in Transport and Engineering, playing key roles in projects like Sydney Metro, Parramatta Light Rail, and Western Sydney Airport. In 2022, Samiha took on the role of Associate Director in the Operational Technology team, within Sydney Trains, leading a team of 180 staff to oversee the design, delivery, operations & maintenance of critical railway technology systems, ensuring, reliability and security.
