The 2021 PWI Convention will explore the role of rail infrastructure in the post COVID-19 economic recovery of NSW and the broader nation. It will look at how existing and future infrastructure projects can play a pivotal role in our economic recovery across NSW (metropolitan and regional), and the importance of innovation, technology and sustainability in this process. It will also consider the potential limitations or restrictions that may impede this progress, and how these restrictions may be overcome.

Matthew Longland is the Chief Executive of Sydney Trains, and is accountable for more than 11,000 staff, the delivery of a safe, reliable and efficient passenger rail services to Greater Sydney, and also manages and maintains rolling stock, stations and rail network infrastructure.
Matthew will address how Sydney Trains has managed its complex operations through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and will outline the future priorities for Sydney Trains, including the focus on customers, integrated service planning and growth, and technology enabled operations.

Join the PWI as we hear from Peter Colacino, who is one of the leading voices in Australian infrastructure. He is responsible for driving Infrastructure Australia’s transformative policy and research agenda across all sectors and their current focus on sustainability, resilience, place-making, industry productivity and innovation. As Chief of Policy & Research at Infrastructure Australia, Peter led delivery of the landmark 2021 Australian Infrastructure Plan, the Market Capacity Program and the 2019 Australian Infrastructure Audit.
Peter will join PWI NSW President Mark Harris in a one-on-one conversation about Infrastructure Australia’s vision and roadmap for infrastructure reform. They will discuss the role infrastructure plays in strengthening our nation and supporting our national recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the bushfires, drought, floods and cyber-attacks that have tested our resilience in recent years.

They will discuss the challenges their businesses have faced during the COVID pandemic, how they overcame and managed these, and what some of the challenges will be looking forward post-covid – each offering a different perspective and approach to managing similar challenges.
